Ubisoft Posts Internal NFT Defense, is Ratioed by Employees

Ubisoft Quartz is not going well; go figure

Many big gaming companies have looked into NFTs, many of which have either pumped the brakes or been yelled at on Twitter until they changed course. Ubisoft, however, launched Ubisoft Quartz, going forward with its plans almost as quickly as they were announced. This hasn’t gone super well, and it appears to be a problem within the company too.

According to reporting from Jason Schrier on Bloomberg, Ubisoft leadership posted a memo to staff via the company’s internal message board. This memo was essentially a defense of the NFT and Blockchain pursuit, outlining leadership’s lines of thinking on adopting the practice. This seems to be a response to an earlier meeting about Ubisoft Quartz, ahead of its launch.

And speaking of responses, the memo hasn’t gone well. Employees, both apparently under forum usernames and even using their real names, roasted the bejeezus out of the post. I’ll only share one quote out of respect for Bloomberg’s primary sourceiness, but I do want to share the best one: “I think the kids call this entire comment section ‘being ratioed,'” wrote another. “Seriously, our confidence in management was already shaken by the handling of harassment cases, and now this?”

Yes, Ubisoft was indeed ratioed in its own home. What a world.
