Hit the Shankhalopod with fire spells to pressure it after knocking it out of its shell with powerful attacks. These rare Shoalopods are only weak to the fire element and will immediately become pressured when a flame-based ability or spell makes contact. Other elements are neutral in this fight, so leave it to the party members with the appropriate Materia. At least one member should have access to a fire spell, but that’s just the first part.

Before you start chucking flames at the Shankhalopod in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you must knock it out of its shell. While it’s hunkered down in a shell, all attacks will bounce off the fiend, making potential weaknesses pointless. If the fiends try to play defense, charge up a powerful attack such as Braver with Cloud. Making contact will immediately force the Shankhalopod out of the shell and open it up for more attacks.

Now that the fiend is spinning around and attacking, use your fire spells to cause pressure. This is the best way to reach the Stagger status as well, which means two birds with one stone in the first Corel Region Fiend Intel battle. Three of the Shankalopods are on the beach in FF7 Rebirth, so rinse and repeat the same abilities until all three are defeated. As long as you keep them out of their shell, the time limit should be no problem.

Not all fiends have elemental weaknesses. Trying to pressure the Fonadu will require more skill than tossing spells.
