How to Create Tier Pieces in Season 3 of WoW Dragonflight

Tiers for Gears

We’re entering our third week of Dragonflight’s third season, so it may be time to ask if you’re where you’d like to be, gear-wise. One easy way to catch up is by crafting tier pieces for your class, so let’s look at a quick and RNG-free way of doing so.

Using the Revival Catalyst to Transform Season 3 Gear into Tier Pieces

The Revival Catalyst, found at the location shown below, can transform any Veteran or higher (441 ilvl) piece of Season 3 gear into the equivalent “tier piece” for your character. Transforming an item costs one Charge, which is granted to your character once per week, beginning on Tuesday. These Charges stack, so don’t worry if you need to farm up some gear to transform first.

This irreversible process will:

  • Destroy the transformed item
  • NOT increase the item’s level or upgrade track
  • Change the secondary stats of the item, if they are different than your class’ tier piece

Another important note is that transforming an item using the Catalyst will only imbue the new item with set bonuses if it is a helmet, shoulder, chest, gloves, or leggings. Any other transformed items will not grant tier-set bonuses.

Also, I would recommend transforming items after you’ve grabbed whatever reward you choose from the Great Vault for the week. There’s no worse feeling than transforming an item into a tier only to see that same piece as a free reward you could’ve picked up if you’d swapped the order around!

There’s no way to farm Charges for the Revival Catalyst, so you’ll have to take them as they are and use them sparingly. In short, don’t blow them on low-level gear – I’d recommend only transforming the tier of “Champion” level and above so that it’s a little more replacement-proof.
