What Are Campfires Used For in Diablo 4?

One of the best events that hits Sanctuary at seemingly random intervals is Legion Events. These events, indicated by a circular icon on the map, have a short notification time but offer huge hordes of enemies. And huge hordes of enemies naturally means plenty of loot and EXP. The added bonus? Campfires.

If you enter a Legion Event quickly enough, you’ll find a campfire near the scarlet ghost of the Servant of Hell you’ll soon be beating down. Get close to it and it will prompt you to stoke the campfire. Do so, and you’ll get a buff that can range from 1%–15% EXP bonus.

How Do Campfires Work in Diablo 4?

Campfires in Diablo 4 can net you big gains to help quicken the pace while on the road to Level 100, but only if you’re using the campfire to its maximum potential. There are two things that are important to note when it comes to the campfire:

  • You must stay within range of the campfire to get EXP buff stacks.
  • To get the full 15% EXP buff, you’ll need to be at the Legion Event long enough for the buff to accumulate.
Tip:

The Diablo 4 campfire buff is stackable with consumable items. Consume any Elixir or incense when using the campfire to increase your EXP gains by 5%, bringing the campfire buff up to 20% for the duration of the Legion Event.

You’ll need to be beside the campfire for around two minutes to get the full extent of the buff, so the moment you see the icon appear head straight to it. Once you have the buff, it will last for the full duration of the event, regardless of how close you are to the campfire. And that’s good, because Legion Events have one of the highest concentrations of enemies in the game.

The campfire buff will go away when you leave the event, and you’ll have to join a new Legion Event to start the campfire buff process again.

For a healthy boost, remember to pop an elixir or incense too while warming yourself up around Diablo 4’s campfire. If you’re not sure how to craft incense, check out our guide here: How to Get Incense in Diablo 4.
