How to Get More Spell Set Slots in Hogwarts Legacy

The way the spell system works in Hogwarts Legacy is that, as you unlock more spells, you can equip them onto a hotbar and activate them in any situation, with them going on cooldown during combat. While you initially start with one set of four spell slots, you can get upgrades that add more sets for a total of four. In other words, once you get the maximum amount of upgrades, you can equip up to 16 spells at once.

To gain this upgrade, you’ll have to progress far enough into the main story to unlock Talents. You’ll reach this point after completing the Jackdaw’s Rest quest and meeting Percival Rackham in the Map Chamber. After a brief conversation with him, you’ll be introduced to the talents menu, which you can access through your Field Guide.

In the talents menu, you’ll find five categories: Spells, Dark Arts, Core, Stealth and Room of Requirement. To get more spell slots, head into the Core section and select the Spell Knowledge option. The first two Spell Knowledge upgrades are unlockable after reaching level five, while the fourth and final one requires level 16. However, you’ll need talent points to get these perks, which you obtain as you level up. Fortunately, if you reach the Map Chamber after hitting level five, you’ll already have some points to spend.
