Fans of Yooka-Laylee who preordered the game and played through the Toybox demo may remember a secret that was hinted to by the INEPT robot in the demo. In this article we’ll teach you everything about the Yooka-Laylee Toybox secret, including where to find it, what it is, and more.
We would like to mention, though, that this article does contain spoilers concerning one of the end-game worlds in Yooka-Laylee, so fans should keep reading at their own discretion. With that out of the way, let’s dive into how to find the Toybox secret in the final release of Yooka-Laylee!
How to Get the Toybox Secret
In order to unlock the Toybox secret, players will have to have collected all 100 Quills in the demo, pressed a hidden button, and then found the INEPT robot in the level. Once you’ve done all this, you’ll be advised to ‘look to a pirate ship for a surprise’. At first, players were unclear what this could mean, but now that Yooka-Laylee has released, pirate ships have been discovered in the final version of the game.
How to Find the Toybox Secret
There’s just one problem, though, there are multiple pirate ships in the game, and while many might think that the pirate ship in Shipwreck Cove, the game’s opening area, is the one that holds this secret—it’s not. Instead, players will need to make their way to World 5, Galleon Galaxy, and expand it to open the world completely.
Once the world has been expanded, head inside and look for the lighthouse off in the distance. Make your way directly there, and then look out for a pirate ship behind it. This is the ship that you’ve been looking for!
Make your way around the ship to find a small island situated behind it. The only things on this island are a rock and tree. You can use your Buddy Slam power on the rock to activate the secret, which will cause a UFO to spawn in and drop off someone who looks familiar.
Head up to the ship to find the INEPT robot hanging out on deck. Speak to him and he’ll mention that the dialogue is only 50.1% complete. We’re still trying to solve this one, but we’ll keep this article updated with any changes that we come across.
