How to Find the Great Rampo

As we stated above, The Great Rampo is only found after you expand Tribalstack Tropics. Once you’ve expanded the world, head out of the spawn area and to the left. Look for a set of stone ramps that lead up around a temple-like structure. From here, all that’s left to do is follow the path up and around, avoiding the fire traps along the way.

Once you reach the top, it’s time to take on the Great Rampo, and claim yourself a Pagie.

How to Defeat Rampo

Like many boss fights in Yooka-Laylee, your encounter with Rampo is broken down into three different phases. Overall, the premise is pretty simple, but the phases themselves can be a bit challenging, so use the information provided below to help you get ahead of the game.

Phase One

The first phase is the simplest. Logs will roll down the incline that leads up to Rampo, and unfortunately, it’s just steep enough that you’ll have to make use of your Reptile Roll power. Thankfully, though, the logs are spread out enough that you can easily roll between them. Do so, and reach the top. Watch out for Rampo’s fire breath, and use your tail whip to knock out his shiny teeth!

At this point Yooka and Laylee will be blown back down to the bottom, and the next phase of the battle will begin.

Phase Two

Things get a bit tougher this time around, with Rampo’s rolling logs actually being less spread out than they were before. Use your Reptile Roll, and avoid the logs coming down the incline. Once you reach the top, double jump over the flames, and then knock out Rampo’s next set of teeth. He gets upset again, and blows you back down the ramp.

Phase Three

This is where the battle gets really challenging, as the logs are all lined up directly side by side, meaning you’ll have to jump over them if you want to make it back up to Rampo and complete the battle. Remember that you can stand still while in your rolling form, which can be helpful for timing your jumps correctly. Once you make it back to the top, jump over Rampo’s fire breath one last time, and then knock out the last of his teeth.

Now it’s time to claim your Pagie and then continue on your way. Be sure to head back over to our Yooka-Laylee guide for more helpful articles like how to save, and how to use Exclusive Mode.
