World of Warcraft’s latest expansion is nearly here and players have a lot to look forward to. In the last few days, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled The War Within’s release date and roadmap for 2024, and it’s jam-packed with action and events. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
World of Warcraft: The War Within Release Date, 2024 Roadmap, and What to Expect
On June 10, 2024, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled the release date and roadmap for its next upcoming expansion and it’s a lot sooner than most people anticipated. This news comes after the expansion’s beta playtest was launched a few days before.
World of Warcraft: The War Within officially launches worldwide on August 26, 2024, and the expansion’s early access begins four days prior on August 22, 2024. Players who have access to The War Within’s Epic Edition will be able to enjoy the game in early access before everybody else. That said, it does come at the hefty price of $89.99, so be prepared to open your wallet.
World of Warcraft: The War Within Season 1
The expansion’s first season will begin roughly two weeks after its release. Season 1 will introduce an entirely new raid centered around the Nerubian forces at the heart of Azj-Kahet. While the details and raid dynamics of this new area and event have yet to be announced, players can expect an entirely fresh challenge full of mystery and danger.
Azj-Kajet is a subterranean area located at the depths of Khaz Algar. Dubbed the Nerubian race’s capital city, Azj-Kajet is the last living home to all its inhabitants. In the expansion, the main antagonist, Xal’atath travels to Azj-Kajet and strikes a bargain with its ruler, Queen Ansurek, to bolster her forces against the heroes of Azeroth. In return, Xal’atath promises Queen Ansurek a better future for the Nerubian race, restoring honor and glory to the once-forgotten ancient arachnoids.
This is sort of where the entire story progresses. It seems that Queen Ansurek and her forces will play a huge part in the development of Season 1 and players will start seeing Xal’atath’s evil plans begin to take place. The region of Azj-Kajet will most likely be one of the late-game hot spots for players too.
That said, more information should come out in the next few weeks or months, so until then, stay tuned for more details about World of Warcraft: The War Within.
