Will The Sims 5 Project Rene Have Multiplayer?

According to the latest Behind The Sims Summit, Project Rene will feature multiplayer and singleplayer capabilities. Like previous Sims games, we’ll be able to play in singleplayer if we want to focus on building our households and have personal experiences without others getting involved. However, it will also have multiplayer features where we can share and make creations with others.

One point stressed in the Summit is that The Sims 5 will not be an MMO, also known as a massively multiplayer online game. In other words, while it’ll have multiplayer aspects, you won’t be able to walk around and see other players in a large world. Despite this, you can invite others to play with you, so it isn’t an entirely solo experience, unlike other Sims games.

While so far it seems to differ from traditional Sims games, the game is still in early development and is “years out” from launch. Over time, more information will release regarding The Sims 5/Project Rene’s future, including how multiplayer will work and its limitations.

The Sims games are available on various platforms, including PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, through the official website. If you’d like to learn more about the games, check out How to Play Sims 4 Multiplayer and How to Climb Mt. Komorebi in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape.
