Will The Finals Have Any Effect on Apex? – Answered

Competition is always fine.

The Finals has joined the roundtable of competitive FPS games; a table that seems to be a tighter and tighter squeeze to find a seat at by the day. However, it seems the game has made itself at home as given its player numbers. But will The Finals have any effect on Apex Legends?

How Will The Finals Impact Apex Legends?

After looking at the raw numbers on various sites that show Steam player counts, I do not see Apex Legends flinching (regarding player count) after The Finals came out. Let’s remember that Apex Legends is also available on Origin (EA), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, where we can’t see the player numbers.

Many competitive FPS games have popped up in the past decade, hailed as “X killers,” and then disappeared into the void of nothingness. The list would overextend the article, and I want to avoid throwing shade at specific titles.

Are The Finals Competition to Apex Legends?

While the FPS game market is oversaturated at the moment, it also allows the players to choose between many games and, hopefully, end up prioritizing their game time in the game that suits their taste and needs the most. Different strokes for different folks, or De gustibus non est disputandum. I bet you will find players who never wanted to touch Apex Legends but are eager to try out The Finals and vice versa.

If anything, I hope the “competition” sentiment lives on, with developers entering an arms race of who will build a better game. You know, working on fun features, eliminating bugs, reducing the amount of cheaters and toxic people, adding better optimization, and, of course, fresh content that makes you keep coming back day after day… Monopolies were never good (unless you’re playing Monopoly GO like half of us here), and competition brings progress.

If you are just getting into The Finals, I can suggest our weapon Tier List as the next read.
