Now that we’ve essentially had confirmation on Half-Life: Alyx being totally real and not just a figment of our collective fevered imagination, us here at Prima couldn’t be happier! The initial leaks about the existence of Alyx were very clear that it was going to be a VR-based experience, so now we’re planning ahead and we’ve compiled a list of which VR headsets work with Half-Life Alyx.
Which VR Headsets Work With Half-Life: Alyx
So, Half-Life: Alyx is going to be a PC-based experience. Sorry, PSVR owners – you’re not going to be able to get a piece of this pie yet. As such, it would only logically follow that Half-Life: Alyx would be compatible with any PC-based VR headset. Naturally, Alyx will have the Valve Index as its flagship headset and it’s going to be optimized for play with that, but it’s also going to work on all the following VR headsets:
- HTC Vive
- Windows Mixed Reality
- Valve Index
- Oculus Rift
- Oculus Quest (if you have a PC link cable)
If you’re running any of the above headsets then you likely meet the minimum requirements to run Half-Life: Alyx, but just in case, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re at least running an i5 processor, 12GB RAM, and a GTX 1060. We’re pretty pumped for the latest from Valve to bring us right back to all of the good things that we loved about the original Half-Life games, so getting to experience Alyx’s story is probably going to be pretty damn special. We now know that it’s a full game and not just a demo or something, so we’re looking forward to chewing on Half-Life: Alyx for a long time via one of those VR headsets.
