Which Crewmate should you unlock first in Granblue Fantasy: Relink?

There are a variety of extra characters that players can unlock in Granblue Fantasy: Relink to pad their party out. Which character should you unlock first after receiving your first Crewmate Card in the game?

At the start of Chapter 4, you’ll receive your first Crewmate Card, which is used to unlock a new member of the team that you can add to your party and play as or with. Once you get this new item, there are many new characters that you can unlock, all with their own strengths and weaknesses for the team. While there are no clear winners here, as every situation has its own perfect team composition, there is one character that immediately stood out to me due to their overwhelming strength.

My personal choice for the first Crewmate to unlock in Granblue Fantasy: Relink would have to be Vaseraga. He’s massive, deals a tremendous amount of damage to any character that happens to get in his way, and just has one of the best overall designs in the game. Plus, he uses a scythe — that’s an automatic win in my books.

With massive AOE attacks that deal disgusting amounts of damage, Vaseraga is great at cleaning up any leftovers while also just being vital during quests that require fast finish times. They join the party with a power level of over 900, so they’re almost instantly the most powerful member of your party from the get-go. While they may be a little slower, the amount of damage that Vaseraga dishes out to enemies is worth the unlock. I may be biased, but the fact that he’s voiced by SunWong Cho is also a selling point to me.

If Vaseraga is not your style, Zeta is also another fantastic choice to unlock first. She’s slightly weaker, but is a fair bit faster, so those hoping to keep their team hitting fast and furious may want to consider bringing her onto the team. One of the most surprising parts of Granblue Fantasy: Relink is how well-balanced every character is overall, so if you don’t like either choice, just pick your personal favorite.
