Where to Find Dragonite in the Wild in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

These Dragonites wanted me dead

If you wanted to skip leveling up one of Casseroya Lake’s Dragonair into a Dragonite, there are two locations where Dragonite spawn naturally in Paldea, and one guaranteed Tera Dragonite. Here’s where to find Dragonite in the wild in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Where to Find Dragonite in the Wild in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Dragonite 1

Head to the Fury Falls Pokemon Center or the Fast Travel point, then to the Fury Falls valley in North Province Area Two. But don’t expect Dragonite to be hanging out in the bamboo groves with the Scyther and Bisharp. No, this Dragonite is a rare spawn that only appears in the air, flying circuits over the area.

This is one of the most frustrating Dragonites to engage with, as once it spawns, you’ll need to quickly climb the rock walls and find a flat area close to it. There aren’t many flat areas you can perch on, but you’ll need to be on flat ground to start the battle by throwing a Poke Ball at it.

That’s right, it won’t let you glide into it. If you try, you’ll just bounce off its orange butt and drop. If you do manage to fight it, it will be level 55.

The only other two Dragonite spawns are also in North Province Area Two. Their spawn points are a little more tucked away, but they’re consistent. As in, if you go here, you’re guaranteed to find one. Head as east and south as you can go in North Province Area Two and expect to climb a few rock walls on your way to the hidden valley. Climbing is the only way to access it. Swimming is not optional, as there are invisible walls.

Once you get in, there are two Dragonite that can spawn here. One that is Level 55 and another that will be Terastallized. This Terastallized Dragonite spawns at level 75, with a Steel Tera Type. Expect it to spam Iron Head. Both the Dragonite in this area are also aggressive, so only come to the valley if you’re ready to throw down, Pokemon Battle style.

Where to Catch Dratini and Dragonair

If you want to start at the base-level, you can instead catch a Dratini in South Province Area Six, North Province Area Two and Casseroya Lake, or stumble up one in a Three-Star Tera Raid. They’re not too common, but they tend to enjoy swimming around in lakes.

You may also find Dratini’s mid-stage evolution, Dragonair, around Casseroya lake, but this is even more uncommon. However, a guarenteed static-encounter Dragonair with an Electric Tera Type can be found in South Province Area Six.

You’ll then need to have Dratini go through its two stages of evolution: Dratini evolves into Dragonair starting at level 30 and then into Dragonite at level 55. This shouldn’t be too difficult to reach, given that wild Dratini and Dragonair are already at relatively high levels.

Good luck getting that Dragonite, trainer!
