If you’ve ever played a Bethesda game like Starfield, then you know ammo is an immensely important resource that shouldn’t be left unchecked. Having a healthy stockpile of ammo can make the difference in any fight, especially if that ammo is for some of your more powerful weapons. Where you get more, though, can be a bit obscure. Here’s where to buy ammo in Starfield.
Where to Purchase More Ammo in Starfield
There are a lot of places where you can buy ammo in Starfield, but the most convenient place is Centaurian Arsenal in New Atlantis. The store can be found by fast-traveling to the Residential District. You’ll be able to see Centaurian within viewing distance, across from the Apollo Tower and to the left of Mercury Tower. Head inside and speak to the clerk, who will be selling just about every type of ammo you can think of.
If going to New Atlantis isn’t possible due to some sort of massive bounty or something along those lines, then there is an alternative that works just as well. If you fast-travel to Akila City in the Cheyenne system and make your way through the front gate, you’ll find Rowland Arms as the second store on your left. Speak with Belle Rowland inside, and she’ll have plenty on offer similar to Centaurian.
All Types of Ammo You Can Buy
All weapon vendors in Starfield will sell all the different types of ammo you might need for a particular weapon. Those ammo types are as follows:
- .27 Caliber
- .43 MI Array
- .43 Ultramag
- .45 Caliber ACP
- .50 Caliber Caseless
- .50 MI Array
- 1.5KV LZR Cartridge

- 12.5mm ST Rivet
- 15×25 CLL Shotgun Shell
- 3KV LZR Cartridge
- 40mm XPL
- 6.5mm CT
- 6.5mm MI Array
- 7.5mm Whitehot
- 7.62x39mm
- 7.77mm Caseless
- 9x39mm

To know which type of ammo your weapon takes, hover over it in your inventory and check under the Ammo section of its description. Keep in mind that select weapons may have their ammo listed differently than ammo in the shop. For example, the Razorback pistol takes 7.5mm, when 7.5mm Whitehot is the same thing.
How to Find Ammo in Starfield
Let’s say you run out of money and can’t buy any more ammo. That isn’t a huge problem, since you can also hunt for ammo throughout the universe. Dead bodies of enemies wielding weapons will all be holding ammo, along with their weapon of choice. One of the more popular weapons you can scavenge early on is the Equinox, which takes 3KV Lazer Ammo. You can also find ammo in random containers, provided you’ve ranked up your Scavenging skill to
How to Reset Vendor Ammo in Starfield
Now, let’s say that you’ve purchased all the ammo from either of the above vendors, and you don’t feel like you have enough or simply want a stockpile. Thankfully, there’s a way to fix them being out of stock. Simply find the nearest seat and wait 24 in-game hours, and the vendor’s shop will reset. They’ll also have new weapons, in case you’re looking for some fresh toys.
