Where to Find the Keypads in Call of Duty: Warzone

The ARG is done, but finding these is still a good idea!
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Much of August 2020 was full of speculation and online fervor as Activision ran an ARG marketing mystery for this year’s eventual Call of Duty debut. That’s over for now, as we’ve been officially introduced to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The ARG consisted of a series of keypads popping up across Verdansk in Warzone, and finding keycodes in the ARG-adjacent website. Those keycodes opened up locked secrets and clues for the next game. But they also contain various tools and items for the game they’re located in!

Because you can find things like weapon Blueprints and tools that are super useful in an actual Warzone match, you can totally justify tracking down those keypad areas even though the ARG mystery is over. Some of these areas are similar to the bunkers you can find and get into via Red Access Card drops, but with the keypads instead. There are also some smaller structures blocked by keycodes. Luckily, the keycodes and keypads are static, so if you have the locations and codes handy there isn’t much improvisation required on part of the player.

The best news about this, of course, is that this information was all relevant to a community-driven ARG puzzle-solving effort. So everything you need is already well documented and accessible. In fact, there’s already a marked up Verdansk map with the keypads’ locations noted along with the keycodes listed. And it’s on Reddit, so it’s easily embedded without taking credit away from the source. See?

Pretty cool, huh? You can reference this map as you drop into your Warzone matches, and figure out which bunkers you can get to based on where the circle is. These locations can have all kinds of uses, from sources of helpful items to hiding spots and even cover from killstreaks. Since you probably can count on only a percentage of players with a similar strategy per match, it’s a safe bet that while the bunkers will be somewhat competitive, it’s a good strategy to have in your back pocket.

Have you been utilizing the keypad-locked bunker areas in Call of Duty: Warzone? Or did this not really occur to you in the wake of the ARG being over and done with? Do you think this is too much effort to worry about, or is it an opportunity to ambush players who are too worried about it? Let us know over at the Prima Games Facebook and Twitter channels!
