Where to Find the Veteran and Buell in Red Dead Redemption 2
After you’ve made some progress in Red Dead Redemption 2, new Stranger Missions will become available throughout the map. One of these Stranger Missions tasks players with tracking down a lost golden horse named Buell. We’ll go over how to find the Veteran and retrieve his missing horse, Buell.
Find the Veteran
To kick off this Stranger Mission, players must first play through the main story and reach Chapter 6 in Red Dead Redemption 2. At this point, a new Stranger called The Veteran will appear southwest of O’Creagh’s Run.
Make your way up toward the lake at O’Creagh’s Run, near Three Sisters in the Grizzlies East region of Ambarino. Follow the road southwest of the lake and listen for someone calling for help. The Veteran, Hamish Sinclair, will be sitting behind a rock along the road, not far from the intersection. Speak to Hamish to begin the mission.
Retrieve Buell the Horse
After meeting Hamish, your next task is to look for and bring back Buell the horse, who should hopefully still have Hamish’s prosthetic. Luckily, you won’t have to go very far. Buell is located near O’Creagh’s Run lake, just a short distance from where you found Hamish. Head toward the lake and look for an agitated golden horse near the shore.
Slowly approach Buell and calm the horse by patting him. You may have to pat the horse more than once before Buell fully cooperates. Once the horse is calm, escort Buell back to Hamish. You won’t be able to mount Buell, so you’ll have to lead him on foot.
As a token of gratitude, Hamish will invite you to go fishing at the lake sometime. If you wish to take him up on his offer, you can continue on to part two of The Veteran mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 by meeting Hamish at his house by the lake. Simply head to the northeast side of O’Creagh’s Run and locate the Veteran’s Homestead. Come prepared, because this side mission will only appear within 24 hours of completing the first part of The Veteran mission.
