It’s always a good idea to back up your game save files before making any modifications or reinstalling a game. We’ll tell you where Hogwarts Legacy saves are stored.
Where to Find Save Files for Hogwarts Legacy on PC
The file path for save files that Hogwarts Legacy creates for you is as follows:
c:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\SaveGames\

In Windows Explorer, click on This PC, then C: drive. In C: drive, locate the Users folder. There is your username as a folder in there, in which you’ll find the AppData folder. By default, AppData is hidden, so if you don’t see it, you will need to toggle the option.
This is done in File Explorer by clicking “View” at the top of the window and going to the “Show” option.
Where to Find Config Files for Hogwarts Legacy on PC
After you gain access to the AppData folder, head out to Local, scroll down to Hogwarts Legacy, find the Saved folder, and then the Savegames folder.
In there, you will see different numbers (in most cases, just one if you log only one Steam account). In the folder that represents your account ID, you will find your saved game files.
In the Saved folder mentioned above, you will see a Config folder, in which there is a WindowsNoEditor folder.
How to Backup Hogwarts Legacy Save Files
Once they are located you can back up Hogwarts Legacy save files through a few methods. The easiest and most common is to simply copy/paste these files into another location on your PC. You can also back up these files to an external hard drive or cloud service.
Another method of backing save files involves using software such as EaseUS Todo Backup. You can use this to automatically back saves up without ever touching the files again. Software like Backblaze also does automatic backups.Â
