THIS IS NOT A DRILL! The cult classic game Phasmophobia is finally coming to coming to consoles, meaning that console loyalists will finally be able to get in on all those spooky hijinks. Here’s when Phasmophobia will be coming to consoles.
Phasmophobia Console Release Dates and More
As a fervent devotee to both consoles and horror games, I’ve sadly watched Phasmophobia Twitch streams for years, wishing me and my friends could get in on the fun. And almost three years after its initial release, this paranormal co-op game will finally be hitting PlayStation and Xbox.
During the Xbox Games Extended Showcase Kinetic Games announced that Phasmophobia would be launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR2 sometime in August of this year.
This console release will include:
- 24 ghost types,
- over 10 locations,
- four-person co-op,
- crossplay
- new shop,
- unique ghost personalities,
- seasonal events,
- a progression system,
- free content updates,
- collectables and trophies,
- customizable difficulty,
- hand crafted weekly challenges,
- customization
- optional objectives,
- equipment loadouts
- and more.
That’s quite a lot of content, and Phasmophobia has brought periodic updates to its PC players over the years, including a new progression system and equipment upgrades. For players who are on the fence, Phasmophobia has maintained an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam for the past three years, with over 455,000 reviews.

Personally, I can’t wait to jump in and die immediately because I used an Ouija board wrong.
If you’re gearing up for the game, one thing you’ll really want to know is how to use smudge sticks. Use them correctly and you’ll be able to fend off aggressive spirits. Fail and, well… you don’t want to fail. Check out how to use them here: How to Light Smudge Sticks in Phasmophobia.
