The recent Final Fantasy XIV Japan Fan Fest has dropped a ton of important info for the Dawntrail expansion; we’re still in Endwalker for a couple of extra months. Fortunately, we got the release date for its next update, which won’t take too long to happen.
When is the FFXIV Update 6.5 Release Date?
FFXIV Patch 6.55 drops on January 16, as it was informed during the first day of the 2024 Japan Fan Fest. The official maintenance announcement should be released in a few days from now, with the update rolling out after a couple of hours of server downtime.
While no Letter from the Producer event for the patch was shown this time, we already know some of the upcoming content, such as a new and final step for the Manderville Weapons, the Tribal Alliance, Tataru’s Grand Endeavor quest, and, most importantly, the actual conclusion to the 6.5 MSQ quests, including the first in-game official appearance of a female Hrothgar. The race will be playable following the Dawntrail expansion arrival.
Based on previous x.55 patches, we won’t be getting the Echo in Savage raids just yet, and loot will still be weekly, so endgame raiders will have to wait a bit more until they can freely farm those fights if they so wish. Regardless, encounters should be easier thanks to the introduction of new Relic Weapons.
No info on how said weapons will be obtained has been revealed just yet. Chances are that they’ll still cost Tomestones, so the farm shouldn’t be a problem. No other new content has been announced, but we might see some surprises, such as new fashion items and mounts.
This will be one of the last few patches before Dawntrail officially arrives, bringing the new Viper and Pictomancer jobs to the game. We got a lot more new info on the expansion during the Fan Fest, and it looks absolutely packed.
