Warhammer 40K: Darktide is a game developed by a team of people in the year 2022, so it is naturally riddled with all sorts of bugs to be concerned about. Many of these are the random numbers that signify everything from a poor internet connection to issues on Fatshark’s end, though some have leaked into the gameplay as well. One such issue began with the full release and is causing some serious issues in gameplay. Here’s what the Toughness bug is in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
What Causes the Toughness Bug in Darktide?
Before we explain why let’s first look at what this bug is. In Darktide, you’re likely aware that Toughness is the blue bar on your health, which is rechargeable through a series of methods and lets you block any damage coming at you. With this bug active though, players might notice that they’re randomly taking damage to their health rather than their currently active Toughness, which obviously shouldn’t happen in most circumstances.
As for what’s causing this, it’s related to having Toughness values above 100. This can happen either if you’re currently playing Veteran or have curios equipped that has a percentage increase to Toughness. We’re not game development experts, though it likely has something to do with how damage taken is registered above 100 Toughness. Perhaps some line of code doesn’t account for the higher Toughness or something like that.

As for how you can fix it, the only way is the obvious way. That is to either not play Veteran, or play another character without a Toughness curio equipped. This lowers your survivability and ways of playing the game, obviously, but it’s the only fix available right now. Given how game-breaking the issue can be, there’s a good chance it’s being focused on by Fatshark and should be fixed ASAP. In the meantime, good luck with the lack of Toughness.
