What is the Finesse Stat in Warhammer 40K: Darktide? – Answered

So many stats, such confusing names.

Similar to Fatshark’s previous games, Warhammer 40K: Darktide focuses a lot on letting you modify your build to be exactly what you want out of it. Whether it be through weapon choices, feat choices, stat distributions, and more, if you can think of it, you can probably do it. With that complexity though comes Fatshark’s classic move of making things quite confusing, and that doesn’t change with Darktide. Here’s what the finesse stat means in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

What Does the Finesse Stat Mean in Darktide?

While this is going to seem out there, Finesse refers to the headshot/weakpoint damage multiplier. Each weapon has a base damage multiplier on weakpoints, though if your weapon has this stat and it’s particularly high, it’ll do much more damage. This is useful if you’re going for a build that’s good against specials and bosses, though not so much against horde-clearing builds.

To give an example as to what we mean, our Ogryn’s Bully Clubs have finesse due to it having a powerful overhead attack. That’s compared to the Latrine Shovel, which doesn’t have the stat due to its focus on Crowd Control and cleaving damage on hordes. Now if you were in our shoes, the Bully Club is seen as inferior on Ogryn due to them not being suited to special clearing, though that’s a conversation for another time and place.

If you were curious, a few other stats of note are Stopping Power, which has to do with Stagger on enemies, and First Target, which refers to damage on the first target in a swing. You might have been able to put those two together, but given how confusing so much of Darktide’s stats are, it doesn’t hurt to mention it. Frankly, the best thing you can do is ignore these things and simply go for whatever playstyle you prefer.
