What is the Best Aim Assist Type in Modern Warfare 3

The Default Aim Assist Type is the best option for your controller settings in MW3. Players tend to go back and forth between Default and Black Ops, but after testing from this year and last year, Default is the way to go. At best, Black Ops gives the same amount of aim assist strength when aiming. On the other hand, Black Ops can feel worse. So stick with the standard option if you can.

Aim Assist Types in MW3:

  • Default: Traditional aim slowdown near target used in Modern Warfare games.
  • Precision: Strong aim slowdown that only kicks in when aiming closer to target. Best for accurate players.
  • Focusing: Strong aim slowdown that also kicks in when narrowly missing a target. Best for players new to analog aiming.
  • Black Ops: Traditional aim slowdown near target used in Black Ops games.

There isn’t a great description to explain the differences between Default and Black Ops. When MW2 launched last year, many players jumped on the Black Ops bandwagon because it felt stickier in comparison. But after some more updates to the game, both options have essentially served the same purpose.

While in the settings, you should also ensure that your Aim Response Curve Type. You want to go with the Dynamic option for the most accuracy on your stick. Along with the Default aim assist option, these settings will ensure that you hit your target with far more control than anything else.
