What is DayZ Experimental? – Answered

Testing, 1, 2, 3...

DayZ is one of the longest-standing open-world survival games and its development has gone through many phases, from an ArmA mod to the standalone game it is now. It could be said that the differences between the early stages of DayZ and DayZ of the current day and age are drastic, to say the least. However, there is this thing called “DayZ Experimental”. What is DayZ Experimental? Is it a separate game? A mod? Prima Games is ready to tell you all about it. Enjoy.

How to Install DayZ Experimental

DayZ Experimental is a sort of a separate, unstable Test Version of DayZ where developers can conduct tests for the new patches, before releasing it to the public. Usually, people should flock to the regular, “stable” version, but a lot of players get bored and want to try something new, and want to help the developers by testing the Experimental version before features from it get passed on to the “Live” or “Stable” version (however you want to call it). You can always check out the Dev Hub of DayZ on their official page to check updates about DayZ.

You can Install DayZ Experimental on your PC (through Steam!) easily.

  1. Locate DayZ in your Steam library. Search function should help you, or just scroll down to the letter D
  2. Right-click on DayZ, and left-click on the bottom option “Properties”.
  3. In the window that appears, you will see a few “tabs” or “cards” at the top. From there, select the “Betas” tab.
  4. By clicking on the drop-down menu in this tab, please select the option that says: experimental – Unstable testing version if you want to use the Experimental client, or NONE – Opt out of all beta programs, if you want to use the regular, stable DayZ.

After confirming your selection and closing the window, Steam will perform some downloads in order to adapt your DayZ version to the one you’ve selected. That’s it!
