What Does Cheugy Mean in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? – Answered

I'm too old for this s**t.

This is painful to write and is really giving me “how do you do, fellow kids?” energy but I guess at some point toward the end of the story campaign in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Direct Clavell asks you what “cheugy” means. Ugh, stop, I’m already cringing. This is peak video games in 2022, folks. If you actually want to know though, here’s the definition and which answer you should pick to his question.

What Does Cheugy Mean in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

In layman’s terms, cheugy basically means uncool, outdated, or trying too hard. It’s something Gen Z coined for millennials which, to be fair, probably isn’t wrong. I’ve seen how some of my fellow millennials act on TikTok and the cringe makes my body want to turn itself inside out. If you’re an avid scroller of the clock app like me, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Anyway, I would assume Director Clavell’s “what does cheugy mean?” question is an awkward way to try and connect to Pokemon’s older fans since come on, I bet most of you reading this are in your late 20s and 30s. Childhood nostalgia never dies. He’s not in touch with the younger generation’s lingo either, get it? Hilarious…

As for what to answer when Clavell asks you what cheugy means, you can either pick “something super cool,” “being outdated and uncool,” or “it’s a really chewy gumball.” If you went for the gumball answer, well, you’re cheugy. It’s clearly “being outdated and uncool” – catch up already.

I feel like I’ve aged about 20 years writing this article so for those of you Googling this cursed question, I hope my agony in having to research what the heck cheugy means brings you comfort. I took one for the team. Why don’t you check out How to Run in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet next? I have a feeling you’ll like it.
