The best part of any video game is getting your numbers to go bigger. To that end, you’re going to want to upgrade your weapons until they’re the most refined, elegant, and devastating as they can possibly be. But doing so doesn’t come free. You’re going to need a lot of iron and steel. Like, a lot, if you intend to outfit an entire army. Here’s the best way to farm Iron and Steel Ingots in Fire Emblem Engage.
The Best Way to Farm Steel and Iron Ingots in Fire Emblem Engage
One of the unique mechanics in Fire Emblem Engage is the ability to steal random animals you find around the world and shove them on your floating island. Everything from Marmots to literal eagles, Alear’s animal hoarding won’t be denied.
But these animals aren’t just here to be cute additions to an already picturesque paradise. They also provide resources. You might have noticed that depending on what animal you adopt, you’ll get certain items. Cats bring fishes, chickens bring eggs. But have you noticed that, somehow, dogs will provide you with bars of steel and iron?
Yeah. Don’t underestimate Rover.
The best, most consistent way to get an endless stream of iron and steel is to fill all five slots of your stables with dogs. The type doesn’t matter. You can go to the early chapter skirmishes and adopt the first good boy you see. Just remember to be consistent in checking out what they bring, coming back between every skirmish and story mission to pick up all they drop.

If you’re not certain where to find dogs, check out our related link above. But if you’re not sure where to find the dogs once you’ve adopted them, head into your map while in the Somniel. You can do so by pressing ‘X’. Scroll down until you see the Stables. Navigate there, then interact with the doors in order to select which animal you’d like to see around your island.
As for whether you can pet them? Sadly, you can’t. But at least they’re adorable, rock digging machines.
Of course, if you have money to spare, you can wait until you pass Chapter 13. Once you do, the flea market will be available on Somniel. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to buy as many Steel Ingot as you want… for a 500 G price.
