Tears of the Kingdom: The White Bird’s Guidance Quest Guide (TotK)

Find the white bird in the white snow challenge.

After completing the Wind Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the eternal blizzard that plagued Rito Village and the Hebra region will finally cease. As a bonus for restoring the region to its former glory, you’ll have a few side quests available around Rito Village and the surrounding area. One quest, given by a character named Laissa in Rito Village, is called The White Bird’s Guidance, which asks you to search for a white bird sitting near the entrance of a forgotten cave. That’s right, you’ll have to search for a white bird in an enormous valley of white snow. Don’t worry, it’s easier than it sounds. Here’s our guide for The White Bird’s Guidance quest in Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to Find the White Bird in Tears of the Kingdom: White Bird’s Guidance Quest

The exact location of the “white bird” is at the (-3948, 2036, 0202) coordinates, just along the path northwest of Rito Village. Truthfully, the “white bird” isn’t actually a real bird you’re looking for, but rather a silhouette in the snow that resembles a white bird. You can find the cave beside it without ever searching for any birds or shadows, but if you’d like to spot the “bird” yourself, keep reading below.

How to Find the White Bird on Vah Medoh’s Shadow in TotK

As the quest text reads:

“Laissa, a resident of Rito Village, can’t seem to recall the location of a cave she found a while back. When you asked what she could remember about it, she said that she saw a white bird sitting atop the shadow of Vah Medoh’s perch at early morning. When she tried to go after it, the bird was gone, and in its place was the entrance to the cave.”

First things first, let’s get the best vantage point possible.

1. Climb atop Vah Medoh’s Perch

Vah Medoh’s perch is the really, really tall rock formation that towers over Rito Village. Climb the stairs surrounding the rock until you’re able to use Link’s Ascend ability to travel through it. You’ll find various areas to easily Ascend up to the top of the perch; all that matters is that you make it to the top.

2. Wait until the Morning

As the quest text says, the white bird sits atop the shadow of the perch in the early morning. Specifically, around the time between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM in-game time. I used flint and a pile of wood to start a campfire while atop the perch and chose to sit at the campfire until morning time, which should start right at 5:00 AM.

3. Look Towards the Shadow

Because the sun rises in the east, you’ll need to steady your gaze towards the west and find the shadow of Vah Medoh’s perch. Take a look at the screenshot below to see the general area to look towards.

Wouldn’t you know – it’s a white bird sitting atop the shadow of Vah Medoh’s perch. I guess Laissa wasn’t being as cryptic as we thought.

Jump off the perch and glide straight toward that white bird, and you’ll stumble upon the mysterious cave Laissa was speaking of. Within that cave is the Wao-Os Shrine.

That’s all for the White Bird’s Guidance quest in Tears of the Kingdom. Remember, the Hebra region is cold and snowy, so it’s always helpful to have a handful of Cold-resistant elixirs in your pouch when traveling around.
