Tears of the Kingdom – How To Lower Hylian Hood In TotK

Let your hair flow with this new style.

If you’ve got a passion for fashion, it may surprise you that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is primarily a fashion-forward game with a few combat instances to give you something else to do. I’m kidding, but really, with the sheer number of armor sets available within the world of Hyrule, you’ll want to find something that completely matches your overall style. No matter if you’re far in the story, or still just exploring the world around you, the Hylian Set offers some tremendous defensive boosts and looks great while you’re sporting it. But, what if you’re not a fan of the hood? Let’s find how to let that ponytail fly, and explore the world in style.

To remove this hood, you must head to Hateno Village, coordinates (3360, -2137, 0120), and complete the 5 quests for Cece and Reede. Not only will you claim the unique Cece Hat, but you’ll also have the ability to remove the hood from your Hylian Armor. Finish these quests to ensure you’re ready for a new style:

  • Team Cece or Team Reede?
  • Cece’s Secret
  • A Letter To Koyin
  • A New Signature Food
  • Reede’s Secret

While the hood of the Hylian Armor set says that it’s great for traveling and avoiding the sun, it also hides Link’s now iconic ponytail of blonde locks. While I personally don’t mind the hood, it’s always a good time to swap things around and go for a new look.

Head to Cece’s Shop once again at coordinates (3360, -2137, 0120), and head inside to talk to the lady of the hour. If you’re wearing the Hylian Armor, she’ll stop you with some unique dialog, asking if you would like to take the hood down so people can see your face a bit better. It seems to be customary not to act suspiciously in Hateno Village, but she likely just thinks you’re cute and wants the world to see your beautiful face.

You won’t need to pay a single Rupee to take this down, and you can come back at any time to have her put the hood back to its more mysterious position. It’s just as simple as paying Cece another visit.

Where To Get Hylian Armor Set In Tears of the Kingdom – Exact Locations

  • Hylian Hood: 70 Rupees
  • Hylian Tunic: 130 Rupees
  • Hylian Trousers: 120 Rupees

There are two particular spots where you can pick up the Hylian Armor, the first being right in Cece’s Shop once you have completed the quests mentioned above. She’ll give you her hat, and reopen shop once again. Pro-tip: make sure you speak to her, as she has a collection of rare armor that you may not be able to purchase elsewhere. It’s likely a repeat of your current armor, but you can re-purchase some if you had to sell it in the past.

The second spot you can purchase it is directly at Lookout Landing, coordinates (-0207, 0083, 0018). Since this is the first location you reach when you come to the land of Hyrule, you may have purchased the Hylian Armor Set shortly after starting the game. With it being slightly expensive at the start, however, you may have glossed over it and completely forgot that it was there, so visit Mub’s Shop and buy it when you can afford it.

Materials Needed To Upgrade Hylian Armor in Tears Of The Kingdom

While there may not be any extra bonuses that you receive by upgrading this armor, it’s still a slick set of gear that can help you reach the end of the game without any extras. While some armor sets may get a Defense Up or Attack Up boost, some players may view that lack of a bonus as a plus. Here are all of the materials you’ll need to gather for each piece of the Hylian Set:

  • 1 Star Upgrade – x5 Bokoblin Horn, x10 Rupees
  • 2 Star Upgrade – x5 Blue Bokoblin Horn, x3 Bokoblin Fang, x50 Rupees
  • 3 Star Upgrade – x20 Amber, x3 Bokoblin Guts, x5 Black Bokoblin Horn, x200 Rupees
  • 4 Star Upgrade – x30 Amber, x5 Bokoblin Guts, x5 Silver Bokoblin Horn, x500 Rupees
