Sonic Mania – How to Use Sound Test

Sonic Mania is more than just a return to form for Sonic gameplay, it’s also a brilliant example of a great soundtrack for the game, and each song we’ve heard so far feels great alongside the retro backdrops. If you want to get more of Sonic Mania’s soundtrack, then you can do so from the Sound Test. Unfortunately, it’s not a simply thing to obtain and in this article we’ll show you how to access the Sound Test so you can listen to all the Sonic Mania tunes your heart desires.

How to Unlock Sound Test

In order to unlock the Sound Test option, you’re actually going to need to complete the Get Blue Spheres mini-games, which can be accessed from any checkpoint once you have over 25 rings on your person. This will allow you to hop into the mini-game, where you’ll need to earn different medals by clearing the stage and collecting all of the blue spheres.

These levels work very similarly to the Special Stages you find throughout the game, so be sure to check out our guide on how to find every Special Stage for help getting those Chaos Emeralds.

Once you’ve collected enough medals from the Get Blue Spheres mini-game, you’ll be able to head to the Main Menu and then locate the Extras Menu. Once unlocked, the Sound Test will appear inside of the Extras Menu, where you can enter a screen that showcases all of the songs, as well as the names of the tracks and a short animation while they play.

Likewise, you can also listen to the Sonic Mania soundtrack another way. This way only requires you to learn how to use the level select, which we’ve detailed in another one of our Sonic Mania guides. That’s really all there is to know about the Sound Test. As we stated above, there are two ways to access the tracks, though the method that uses the medallions from the Get Blue Spheres mini-game is the only way to access the actual track names for the game’s soundtrack.
