When progressing through Rogue Trader, you’ll be forced to make a ton of difficult decisions that may or may not have ramifications. Here’s whether you should help Felek or Theobald in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.
Should You Choose Felek or Theobald in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader?
This choice comes when attempting to secure a Navigator for your voidship in Rogue Trader. You’ll first meet Felek, who mentions that his relative Theobald is a traitor and shouldn’t be allowed near Lady Cassia, the family’s central daughter. However, once you’ve progressed through Eurac V enough, you’ll find Theobald who will tell you the opposite. Felek is the traitor, and that he simply is trying to defend his house with Lady Cassia at his side. This presents two options, either side with Felek and kill Theobald, or side with Theobald and kill Felek.
Ultimately, you should choose to align with Theobald since he will become your ally in the confrontation against Felek. This decision doesn’t have lasting consequences because both characters will ultimately meet their demise, allowing you to obtain their valuable equipment and recruit Navigator Cassia to accompany you.
This approach not only simplifies the significant battle but also ensures that you receive all the rewards associated with completing the questline, just as you would through alternative methods.
As such, we’ll look at the results of both options.
What Happens if You Choose Felek and Kill Theobald in Rogue Trader
If you choose to side with Felek and kill Theobald, the latter will naturally be enraged and try to kill you. You’ll be forced immediately into combat, through which you’ll need to kill him and those of house Orsellio who side with him. You’ll get some loot from his body, though you should know that this will start your relations with Cassia on the wrong foot. She won’t be happy with you, even if she will join your voidship as a Navigator.
What Happens if You Choose Theobald and Kill Felek in Rogue Trader
If you decide Theobald is the one telling the truth, you’ll all head back down the elevator and engage in battle with Felek and his men. Cassia will fight by your side here, and things will start off much more nicely with her. Theobald will still die by the time you finish the combat encounter too, meaning you can still loot his staff for a party member. A welcome reward.
If you purely care about rewards, you’ll get more for executing Felek than Theobald and should choose that. As for moral choices, I find that helping Theobald makes a lot more sense. Felek opens with shooting three members of house Orsellio’s guard and refuses to join you when going to confront Theobald. Theobald can also be found alongside Cassia, so it makes more sense that he wouldn’t be the traitor. Considering he dies no matter what as well, whether he betrayed the house or not is a bit irrelevant.
