Lara Croft has had many different looks and styles over the past few decades. Longtime fans of the series may be excited to learn that you can change Lara’s outfits and appearance in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the action-packed conclusion to Lara’s 2013 origin story. There are a number of outfits and styles available to unlock and equip throughout the game. Continue reading below to find out how to change Lara’s outfit and appearance in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
How to Change Outfits
Lara’s clothing style and appearance can be changed at one of your Base Camp locations. The ability to change your outfit isn’t available from the start, but this feature will unlock shortly after you reach Peru.
To change into a new outfit, start by visiting a Base Camp campfire. Select the Inventory panel, which is the same place you would go to craft new weapons and upgrade your equipment. Click or use R1/RB to select the shirt icon in the upper left corner to see what outfits and styles you have available. You can even craft new outfits for Lara as well, provided you have the necessary crafting materials.
Within the outfits menu, you’ll find complete full body outfits that are based on Lara’s style from previous Tomb Raider games, even blockier ones that harken back to the earliest versions of Lara Croft. There are also individual upper and lower body clothing pieces that players can mix-and-match to create a whole new look for Lara.
How to Get More Outfits
While most of Lara’s outfits and alternate appearances are purely cosmetic, there are several outfits that provide stat bonuses and gameplay benefits when equipped as well. For example, the Hide Boots of Urqu allow you to earn bonus XP from stealth kills. Visit our outfit guide to learn how to get every outfit in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Many of Lara’s outfits are acquired through story progress and do not require crafting. Some outfits, such as Vestige outfits, can be purchased from merchants in the hub or are obtained as a reward for completing a crypt.
Completing certain crypts will unlock the crafting blueprint for a new clothing item or outfit, which can then be crafted and restored at any Base Camp location. If you want to get new outfits and clothes for Lara to wear on her journey in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, make sure to keep an eye out for crypts and complete them as soon as possible.
