Sea of Stars, the upcoming prequel to 2018’s The Messenger from Sabotage Studio, is nearing its arrival, much to the excitement of retro-styled, turn-based RPG fans. Here is everything you need to know about Sea of Stars’ release date, platforms, and premise.

Sea of Stars Release Date

Sea of Stars is set to release on August 29, 2023. This is almost the exact date that The Messenger launched five years ago, as Sabotage Studio’s action platformer came out on August 30, 2018 for PC and Nintendo Switch, followed by PS4 and Xbox One releases later.

Sea of Stars will launch on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. This means that Sea of Stars will be available on all major current gaming platforms. This is certainly an exciting development for PlayStation and Xbox gamers who haven’t yet upgraded to next-gen hardware, as Sea of Stars is coming to both Sony and Microsoft’s previous generation of consoles.

According to the game’s official description on Steam, “Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. It tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.”

To recap, Sea of Stars will officially launch August 29, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing a new spin on the world/lore created in The Messenger through its retro turn-based RPG gameplay mechanics.
