The best way to ensure your success when pulling for Arcanist characters in Reverse: 1999 is to know the ins and outs of the pity system. The gacha mechanics are up to percentages, but make sure you aren’t wasting your resources trying to see your favorite characters’ home.
Reverse: 1999’s Pity System Explained
Chances
First, a character’s rarity determines the percentage at which they come home, with featured characters on the banners having an increased rate. These rates carry across all of the ongoing banners in Reverse: 1999, but on banners with increased rates for characters, a bonus chance applies when a Six-Star character or Five-Star character is involved.
There will be a 50% chance that the featured Six-Star character will appear, and since there are two Five-Stars that have increased chances, each takes up a 50% chance of appearing rather than a character that is not featured on the banner.
- 6-Star Characters: 1.5%
- 5-Star Characters: 8.5%
- 4-Star Characters: 40%
- 3-Star Characters: 45%
- 2-Star Characters: 5%
These percentages are based on each solitary pull with a group of 10 summons guaranteeing at least a 4-Star Character. For reference on knowing whether the pull is rare or not, the Spinning Wheel will glow three different types of hues: White for Common, Purple for 4-Stars, and Gold for 5-Stars and 6-Stars.
Guarantee and Pity
The next fact about gacha mechanics in Reverse: 1999 is the terms guarantee, and pity, where guarantee means the certainty that the player will receive the Arcanist or Rare character, and pity means increased chances as the total accumulated summons towards the increased rate of the character reaches high numbers.
For every 70 pulls, players are guaranteed a 6-Star Character. If that initial 6-Star is not the featured character, upon their next pull of a 6-Star character, whether through another 70 pulls or by luck within just as few, they will be guaranteed the Featured Character. After the featured character is obtained, all chances will be reset.
Pity is a term set by gacha users that indicates how close they are to receiving the guaranteed character, both in terms of accumulated pulls and by chances increase. Reverse: 1999 specifically has a Pity Clause that upon hitting around 60 pulls in a banner, chances for a 6-Star are increased to 4%, and for each summon after that doesn’t grant a 6-Star, it will increase that chance by 2.5%.
By using pulls carefully between every 10 pulls and depending on how many pulls you have accumulated for a banner, players can guarantee a better chance at retrieving rare characters.Â
Duplicates
Receiving duplicates may be more common when pulling on banners multiple times, but this does not mean they are all bad. Not only can duplicates be used to increase the Arcanist Portrayal to strengthen their skills and uptime, but the extras can be used to get you more pulls after they are maxed out.Â
On reaching a character for the 2nd-6th time, or upon the character count where a player maxes out the character’s portrayal, they will receive an Artifice of the Character and Albums of the Lost. For each time a character has been maxed, the player will receive an increased number of Albums of the Lost, depending on the rarity of the character.
- 6-Star Characters: 1 Artifice and 12 Albums of the Lost | 28 Albums of the Lost
- 5-Star Characters: 1 Artifice and 3 Albums of the Lost | 7 Albums of the Lost
- 4-Star Characters: 1 Artifice and 8 Tracks of the Lost | 12 Tracks of the Lost
- 3-Star Characters: 1 Artifice and 4 Tracks of the Lost | 7 Tracks of the Lost
- 2-Star Characters: 1 Artifice and 3 Tracks of the Lost | 5 Tracks of the Lost
All Banners in Reverse: 1999 Explained
As of Reverse: 1999’s current version, there are three total banners. As of the game’s current update, the first banner will feature a new 6-Star character and an increased chance of selecting 5-Star characters to accompany them.
This Feature Banner is limited and will circulate with a range of other Limited-Run characters that cannot be retrieved from the second banner or the Standard Banner. The player isn’t guaranteed to receive the featured character on the banner, but instead one of the Standard 6-Star Characters that already exist within the game. These are only a small pool of characters and do not include Featured Characters in other banners.Â
The second banner is a Revisiting Banner, highlighting the increased chances of a pre-existing Standard 6-Star Character. While players can retrieve the Standard 6-Stars in every banner, using the Revisiting Banner will give players a greater chance of obtaining one of the selected Standard 6-Stars if that is the player’s goal.
On this banner are increased chances for already existing 5-Star Characters that players may or may not have, but this does include another great chance for retrieving those characters specifically if it is within the player’s wishes.
Another important fact to remember about the Featured Character Banner and the Revisiting Banner is that they share a pool of accumulated pulls. This means that when a player wishes 10 pulls on the Featured Character Banner and 10 pulls on the Revisiting Banner, there will be 20 pulls on the Record. Because they share the same record, players can take advantage of losing the guarantee on one banner to get the increased rate of a character on the other. And the closer you get to pity, or 60-70 pulls, the more careful you should be when pulling on either banner.
The last of these banners is the Standard Banner, which has no increased character rates and does not share a Record with any previous banners. This does mean that the base chance of the percentages is as depicted in the math above and still holds the Pity rule where reaching 60 will increase the rate of a 6-star Character appearing.Â
