The Huntress Boltcaster won’t be that useful in a fight, but if you need a weapon that allows you to distract your enemy, or even push buttons from afar, then this toy will do the trick. While it can be found in various areas, this article we’ll show you the easiest way to find the Huntress Boltcaster in Prey, so you can start making use of distraction tactics to fool your enemies.
How to Get the Huntress Boltcaster
After you’ve escaped the Neuromod Division, and made your way to Morgan Yu’s office, you’re tasked with finding and searching the office of Dr. Lorenzo Calvino, the man who invented the Looking Glass Technology found throughout the station.
Once you have this objective, head out of Morgan’s office and make your way through the Teleconferencing Center directly across the walkway. There’s quite a few enemies in here, so be careful and take them out with your Silenced Pistol, or better yet, pick up the Turret outside of Morgan’s office and reposition it outside the Teleconferencing Center door before you open it.
Once the Mimics inside are clear, make your way through, and exit out the other side. From here you can turn to the left to find the entrance to the Hardware Labs, but ignore that objective for now and turn to the right instead. Make your way across the walkway to the other side, where you’ll find an entrance to the Sales Division.
Head inside, but be careful as a Phantom roams the area. You can deal with it using your Shotgun or Silenced Pistol, or just sneak around it without being seen. If you haven’t found the Shotgun yet, then be sure to check out our guide on how to find your first gun.
Once the Phantom is down, or you have managed to sneak around it, look out for the office that belongs to Kelly Randolph. Her name should be on a plaque in the window. Head into the office and look behind her desk to find the Huntress Boltcaster.
Uses for the Huntress Boltcaster
As we stated above, the Huntress Boltcaster is more of a toy than an actual weapon, and it deals zero damage to enemies. It is, however, a great way to distract enemies, and is essentially your most important weapon when trying to sneak your way past large groups of Typhons. It’s also really useful for hitting buttons and screens that are out of reach, which you may run into later in the game.
The Huntress Boltcaster uses a type of ammunition called a Flexifoam Bolt, which looks eerily similar to a nerf dart you’d see in the kid’s section of your local toy store. Don’t take this weapon for granted though, while not powerful, it can be extremely useful in some situations.
While the Huntress Boltcaster isn’t the most useful gun in the game, those looking to take out Corrupt Turrets or other machines should be sure to check out our guide on how to get the Disruptor Stun Gun, or return to our Prey guide for even more helpful articles like this one.
