Who is Zinnia? We go over all the information on this mysterious Pokemon character.
Pokemon: Who is Zinnia?
Zinnia is a Pokemon Trainer who has only appeared in the Delta Episode of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and in Pokemon Masters EX. She is the Lorekeeper of the Draconid people. The Draconid people are a group that worships Rayquaza because it saved the Hoenn region from Primal Groudon and Kyogre’s warring using the power of meteoroids. As their Lorekeeper, Zinnia’s duty is to summon Rayquaza if the need arises.
Zinnia in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire’s Delta Episode
Zinnia is a major character in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire’s Delta Episode. During this post-game story, a meteoroid big enough to destroy the world is discovered making its way towards Hoenn. Although Professor Cozmo and the Devon Corporation want to use Infinity Energy and the Link Cable to warp the meteoroid elsewhere, Zinnia stops them. She knows the meteoroid will be sent to the universe of the original Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, where there is no Infinity Energy—the same energy as Mega Evolution—to help those people divert the meteoroid away from themselves.
Zinnia is the person who told Maxie and Archie how to awaken Primal Groudon and Kyogre in hopes that their destruction would cause Rayquaza to return and stop both the Primal Pokemon and the meteoroid. After the player stops Team Magma or Aqua’s plan and captures the Primal Pokemon, Zinnia spends the Delta Episode gathering Key Stones to summon Rayquaza at the top of the Sky Pillar. She succeeds, but Rayquaza can only Mega Evolve with the power of the player’s Meteorite item, prompting them to capture it and use it to destroy the meteoroid.
Players battle Zinnia twice in the Delta Episode: once early on, and again after catching Rayquaza.
Zinnia in Pokemon Masters EX
There are three sync pair units featuring Zinnia in Pokemon Masters EX. Her first appearance is as a free unit with Rayquaza that can be unlocked in the Legendary Adventures story The Dragon That Rules the Sky. Rayquaza can achieve Mega Evolution after obtaining the Power Boost item from the Team Aqua’s Stormy Seas villain event. In addition, Zinnia and Rayquaza’s potential can be raised to 6-star EX with the Custom Legendary Spirits obtained from the Team Magma’s Red-Hot Rage villain event. Both villain events are occasionally rerun for a limited time frame.
Zinnia’s second sync pair appearance is with Salamence, her ace Pokemon from the Delta Episode. Players can exchange a BP Sync Pair Voucher to obtain this 4-star duo. It is permanently available, but Zinnia has the same appearance as usual.
Zinnia’s third sync pair is in a Special Costume with Thievul, a Pokemon she doesn’t use anywhere else. This sync pair was part of the Solve the Case! costume event as the rival to a detective Steven. Zinnia is dressed in a classy top hat and monocle, in the vein of the great phantom thief Arsène Lupin. Unlike the previous two sync pairs featuring Zinnia, her Special Costume is only available on occasion via limited, non-permanent sync pair scouts.
