Pokemon Indigo Disk: How to Get Terapagos in Scarlet & Violet

The big question of any new DLC or Pokemon game is this: how in the world do I get the box art Legendary? In this case, that Legendary is the adorable Terapagos, a Tera Turtle capable of utilizing all Tera Types simultaneously. And getting this Legendary Pokemon is no easy task.

Here’s how to get Terapagos in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Step 1: Defeat the Elite Four and Champion Kieran

Well, the real step one is defeating the main campaign and downloading the Indigo Disk. But once the Indigo Disk DLC is booted up, you’ll need to complete the main storyline of the DLC, which will require you to defeat the Elite Four in each of the four quadrants of the Terarium.

  • Dayton – The Dragon Trainer in the Polar Biome.
  • Lacey – The Fairy Trainer in the Costal Biome.
  • Amarys – The Steel Trainer in the Canyon Biome.
  • Crispin – The Fire Trainer in the Canyon Biome.

It doesn’t matter what order you take them down. But once they’re defeated, return to the Blueberry Academy entrance and speak to the receptionist. She’ll arrange your battle against Kieran.

Kieran will have the following Pokemon:

  • Dragonite
  • Politoed
  • Grimmsnarl
  • Porygon-Z
  • Incineroar
  • Hydrapple

Hydrapple is his Ace.

Step 2: Head to Classroom 1-4.

Once you defeat Kieran, you’ll get a cutscene requesting that you and the rest of the main cast of the DLC head to classroom 1-4. Do so by interacting with the turnstiles near the receptionist at the Blueberry Academy entrance. Then, select classroom 1-4.

However, it might be worth going to your dormitory to heal first, as your Pokemon will not automatically be healed.

Once in the classroom, you’ll meet Geeta and Rika, who will inform you that you’ll all return to Area Zero. This time with the enthusiastic Ms. Briar.

Step 3: Go to the Blueberry Academy Entrance.

Once you’re through with that conversation, head to the entrance of Blueberry Academy. Near the long pathway that takes you into the Terarium, there will be Carmine, Kieran, and Briar. Speak to them to head automatically to Area Zero.

Step 4: Go to the bottom of Area Zero

Once you’re in Area Zero, you can jump off the ledge to head straight to the bottom. Your goal is to enter the old research lab where you encountered Professor Sada / Professor Turo.

Once you find the doors, interact with the panel to open them.

Step 5: Interact with the Elevators

Now that you’re in the old lab, you can heal with the nearby bed. Otherwise, go to the back of the room for a short cutscene with Carmine. You’ll then find yourself on the elevator heading into the Underdepths.

Step 6: Defeat the Tera Glimmora

Once you’re off the elevator, go across the crystal bridge, where you’ll see quite a few Tera crystals in the wall. You’ll get a cutscene with Briar.

Defeat the nearby Tera Glimmora. Doing so will cause the Tera crystals to vanish and allow you to proceed deeper into the Underdepths. This will be an ongoing pattern.

Step 7: Reach the Bottom of the Underdepths

So, just like before, you’ll encounter several Tera crystal blockages as we proceed through the level. There will be three in total.

The first one is a Noivern on a raised platform just to the left of the Tera crystals.

Climb your way up and defeat the Noivern, then proceed through the new tunnel.

At the next blockage, take the small cave to the left of the Tera crystal blockage.

You’ll need to platform your way to the highest floating rock, where you’ll find an Iron Thorns. Defeat it and return to the blockage, and head through.

The final blockage will require you to go down the watery path. There, in the center of the island, will be a Garganacl. Defeat the Garganacl, then return to crystal blockage. You’re almost there.

Step 8: Defeat Kieran and Terapagos

Kieran, perhaps unsurprisingly, will catch Terapagos. Heal up before fighting him, then defeat Terapagos. Terapagos is naturally a Normal-type Pokemon and thus is weak to Fighting-type moves. However, you shouldn’t rely on that.

Defeat Terapagos, but heal before you deal the final blow.

Step 9. Defeat Stellar Form Tarapagos

This can be a difficult fight.

You’ll initially fight with Carmine, who’s there in a support role to heal you and keep your Pokemon up. Every two moves, you’ll be able to Terastallize your Pokemon, but Terapagos will change its typing every time its shield drops.

Likewise, once its shield drops, it will drain your Pokemon’s Tera energy, forcing you to regain it. Then, it will rebuild its shields. It will do this until it reaches the final quarter of its health.

Once you get Terapagos to half health, Kieran will step in to help you with Hydrapple. You just need to whittle Terapagos down. Once you do, you can opt to catch it. Kieran will even cheer for you.

Terapagos Stats and Moves

The Terapagos Pokemon starts at level 85, and it has three different forms. Its base form, its Terastal Form when it’s in battle, and its Stellar Form when it terastalizes. Here’s a list of its stats in each form:

  • Atk: 65.
  • Def: 85.
  • SpAtk: 65.
  • SpDef: 85.

Terapagos Terastal Form:

  • Speed: 85.

Here’s a list of the moves that Terapagos has access to in its battle with you in The Indigo Disk DLC:

Terapagos also has an ability for each of its forms:

  • Tera Shift – This allows Terapagos to turn into the Terastal form.
  • Teraform Zero – This comes after you Terastallize Terapagos. It allows Terapagos to cancel out all terrain and weather effects in battle.
  • Tera Shell – This ability makes damage moves less effective against Terapagos when it has max HP.
  • Earth Power
  • Zen Headbutt
  • Tera Starstorm
  • Water Pulse

And there you have it! That adorable turtle is all yours.
