To obtain a free Master Ball in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, head into the main menu, enter the Poke Portal, and select Mystery Gift. Once you’re in the Mystery Gift menu, choose Get via Internet to connect to the internet and find your Master Ball in the gift menu.

The free Master Ball is available from December 14, 2023, until January 3, 2024, at 3:59 PM PST. If you don’t claim the gift before this date, you won’t be able to receive the Master Ball.

Your Master Ball will appear automatically in your in-game bag, allowing you to use it immediately after receiving it. Just make sure you save your game so you don’t lose the Pokeball after any unexpected crashes, system battery dying, or other unfortunate issues causing Pokemon S/V to close.

The Master Ball is important to receive during your playthrough due to its rarity and power in catching Pokemon. Master Balls let you catch wild Pokemon without fail, giving you a 100 percent chance of obtaining the Pokemon for your party, regardless of its health or power. It’s particularly handy when catching Legendary Pokemon.

Alongside the Master Ball, you can also claim a Shiny Lucario during this period. To do this, return to the Mystery Gift menu, choose Get With Code/Password, and enter SH1NYBUDDY. Like the Master Ball, your Shiny Lucario will appear immediately in your in-game party or boxes.
