To find a Cottonee in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk, you will need to travel to the Coastal Biome and make your way to the northmost portion of the area. You will see Cottonee spawn to the west of the connecting bridge, as seen in the below image.

How to Evolve Cottonee in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk

There is no level requirement to evolve Cottonee into Whimsicott. Instead, you will need to obtain a Sun Stone. Unlike other evolution stones, the Sun Stone cannot be purchased and must be picked up as an item around the Coastal Biome. You can also head back to Paldea and pick up a Sun Stone at West Province Area One to the north of the Pokemon Center. West Province Area One also spawns Sun Stones sporadically as items that you can pick up.

There are no negatives to evolving Cottonee as soon as you capture it, as Whimsicott will still have access to the same move pool as Cottonee did. Either way, it’s a good idea when capturing these higher-level wild Pokemon to go and see what moves it can remember. Because chances are the move set that it currently knows is less than ideal.

Whimsicott Stats

Here are the stats and abilities for Whimsicott:

  • Type: Grass/Fairy
  • Abilities:
    • Prankster: Any Pokemon with Prankster can use status moves before an opponent uses a regular move. This works even if they are slower.
    • Chlorophyll: Doubles Speed during bright sunshine.
    • Infiltrator: Allows a Pokemon to ignore the effects of Safeguard, Reflect, and Light Screen.
  • HP: 60
  • Attack: 67
  • Defense: 85
  • Sp. Atk: 77
  • Sp. Def: 75
  • Speed: 116

Now that you have a Whimsicott, you are one step closer to completing the Pokedex in the Indigo Disk! There are plenty of other Pokemon that evolve via various evolution items, and thankfully, a lot of them can be purchased with BP.
