The Pokemon GO Verdant Wonders event brings new costumed Pokemon, shiny Pokemon, and a returning legendary Pokemon. This guide goes over all the details.

Pokemon GO: Verdant Wonders Event Date and Time

The Pokemon GO Verdant Wonders event will take place from Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM until Monday, March 25, 2024 at 8:00 PM local time. Since this is based on local time, anyone who’s had to “spring forward” for Daylight Savings doesn’t have to worry about converting the event times.

Costumed Pokemon Debuts

The cute Cottonee and wonderful Whimsicott will appear wearing a flower crown during the Verdant Wonders Pokemon GO event. You can find Cottonee wearing a flower crown through various means as listed below, while Whimsicott wearing a flower crown can be obtained by evolving a flower-crowned Cottonee.

Collection Challenge Information

There will be Collection Challenges themed after the Verdant Wonders event while the event is live in Pokemon GO. Some of the rewards for completing the Collection Challenges will include:

  • Stardust,
  • XP,
  • and an encounter and chance to capture Cottonee wearing a flower crown.

PokeStop Showcases

There will be PokeStop Showcases during different points of the Verdant Wonders Pokemon GO event where you can enter event-themed Pokemon.

Return of the Special Research Story “Rogue of the Jungle”

The Special Research Story Rogue of the Jungle will return (without an in-game medal) during the Verdant Wonders event. It costs $7.99 USD (or the local currency’s equivalent pricing tier). Once you complete this Special Research story, you can encounter and capture the legendary Pokemon Zarude.

Other rewards for completing the Special Research tasks along the way to Zarude include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Two (2) Premium Battle Passes,
  • Six (6) Silver Pinap Berries,
  • Five (5) Rare Candies,
  • One (1) Incense,
  • Encounters with various Dark-type and Grass-type Pokemon.

Ticket holders will also receive the additional bonus of certain increased Pokemon encounters when using Incense during the event (except for Daily Adventure Incense). The following table goes over the increased Incense encounter Pokemon and if they can be found shiny:

To access the Rogue of the Jungle Special Research story, players need to:

  • Purchase the Special Research from the in-game shop between Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM and Monday, March 25, 2024 at 8:00 PM (local time), and
  • Open Pokemon GO at some point during the Verdant Wonders event.

Once players have received the Special Research, it can be completed at any time, even after the event is over.

Players can also gift this Special Research to any of their in-game friends whom they’ve reached a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with.
