Pokemon GO Rediscover Kanto Event Date and Time
You’ll have plenty of time to discover, rediscover, or even re-rediscover Kanto in Pokemon GO: the event lasts from Monday, April 22 at 10:00 AM to Thursday, May 9 at 8:00 PM PDT. Check out the table below for the event start and end dates and times for different time zones:

Pokemon GO Rediscover Kanto Event Bonuses
The following bonuses will be in effect as part of the Pokemon GO Rediscover Kanto event:
- Receive increased XP for a seven (7) day Pokemon catch streak.
- Receive increased XP for a seven (7) day PokeStop spin streak.
- Friendship levels will increase faster when opening Gifts, trading Pokemon, and battling together in raids, Gyms, and Trainer Battles.
- Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle have an increased chance of being shiny when encountered in the wild in their respective biomes.

The following Pokemon from Kanto will be appearing in specific biomes, which are new to Pokemon GO starting with the Rediscover Kanto event. All the following Pokemon will also be available outside of their respective biomes but with less frequency.

Pokemon GO Rediscover Kanto Featured Attacks
The Kanto starters will learn featured attacks when evolved during the Rediscover Kanto event. The following table includes the Pokemon, how to obtain them, and their featured attack.

Pokemon GO Rediscover Kanto Pokemon Debut
It’s not just familiar faces that star during the Rediscover Kanto event. Wiglett will make its Pokemon GO debut, appearing in the beach biome. Wiglett can be evolved into Wugtrio by using 50 Wiglett Candy. As of the Rediscover Kanto event, this evolutionary line cannot be shiny.

Log in to Pokemon GO during the Rediscover Kanto event to unlock a five-part exclusive Special Research. The tasks and rewards for the Special Research are as follows:

Tap your buddy’s icon on the lower left of the screen and scroll down to “Walking Progress” to see how far you need to walk with them to get a Candy. Rare Pokemon like legendaries need 20 km to get a single Candy, making them unideal choices for completing this Special Research task. Follow the link above for a list of Pokemon that only require 1 km of walking to earn Candy to complete this task quickly.

The rewards for completing all the above tasks are:

Special Research doesn’t expire, so you can take as much (or as little) time as you need to complete these daunting tasks.
Pokemon GO Rediscover Kanto Field Research
Finally, there will be event-themed Field Research tasks. Each task will be to “Power up Pokemon 5 times,” and the reward will be 25 Mega Energy for either Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise. This will make it clear when the task is part of the Rediscover Kanto event and not the Sustainability Week 2024 event.
