Niantic has officially revealed that Woobat with bonus Woobat Candies would be the 2020 Research Breakthrough reward for the second month of the year. Trainers will have the opportunity to encounter and acquire this new character starting at 1 PM PST on February 1st. This period will then end on March 1st at 1 PM PST.

The January version was a Lapras that knew the powerful moves of Ice Shard and Ice Beam. The developer had made the same character rewards for consecutive months before, so some members of the community believed that it would not be out of this world for Niantic to do the same to kick off the new decade with Lapras.

However, there would surely be some players who would not be happy with the fact that the same character is used for the first two months of this year. Especially if they already caught the Ice Shard and Ice Beam knowing Lapras last month in GO. This issue will not be a problem thanks to Woobat being named the Research Breakthrough reward for this month.
