Communication is Key

If you’re playing in DUOS or Squads, then communicating with your team is going to be key to your success and ability to stay alive for a long time. You can make use of the games built-in VOIP, but if you’re looking for a tool that gives you better voice quality, then applications like Discord and TeamSpeak—or even Mumble—will do the job much better. It will also give you the ability to communicate between matches, to make sure everyone is ready to go.

Land Fast, Strike Faster

Landing quickly can be extremely important in PUBG, especially if you’re trying to go for more populated areas. The quicker you can get your boots on the ground, the faster you will be able to get your hands on gear and start defending yourself. If you’re going to survive until the end, make sure you grab some armor, a helmet, and some medical items to keep yourself in tip top condition for the duration of the match. This is the first step to success, and definitely one that you’ll become better at as you play the game more.

Play Defensively

One of the biggest mistakes you can make if you’re trying to make it to the end of the match, is to play too aggressive. Running and gunning won’t get you far in PUBG, so knowing how to play defensively, and wait for your enemies to come to you will be key to your success. You can make use of vantage points like rooftops, hallways, and even windows to keep an eye on possible enemy locations, all while making the most of your location. Try not to push too much if you think an enemy may be nearby. Instead, let them come to you.

Know Your Cover

Cover in PUBG can be a very fickle thing. Hiding in the wrong patch of grass can leave you exposed to players far away—whose grass hasn’t completely rendered in—and taking up a spot behind a wall could very well leave you exposed to attacks from behind. Try to set yourself up with good cover spots that don’t have a lot of vantage points looking down onto them, as this will reduce the number of bullets you have to worry about taking in the back.

Keep these things in mind when you launch into PUBG, and don’t forget to take your time as you make your way through the world, in search of that Chicken Dinner. If you can keep these things at the forefront of your mind, and make use of these strategies, then you’ll find yourself struggling less and less to make it into that Top 10.
