Persona 5 Tactica Repaint Your Heart DLC Explained

For those who wanted more of Royal's trio

Persona 5 Tactica is yet another side adventure for the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, and even this side adventure has got its own spin-off, too. Here’s all you need to know about Persona 5 Tactica: Repaint Your Heart.

What is the Repaint Your Heart DLC?

Repaint Your Heart is a side story in Persona 5 Tactica that, for reference, takes place during Persona 5 Royal’s third semester. This is the part of the game when Joker only hangs out with Akechi and Kasumi, and in Tactica, it is no different. Contrary to what one could assume, the story in Repaint Your Heart is totally unrelated to the main game; it’s got its own Kingdom and antagonist, so you can play it whenever you want. There’ll be no spoilers or repercussions on your main quest.

The gameplay is almost exactly the same, except for one additional gimmick. Turns out the name Repaint Your Heart is not metaphorical but literal. In this DLC, missions still take place in the grid system of the main game, but here, you must paint the battlefield, too (very similar to the Splatoon games). Painting the grid with your color gives you an advantage, and letting the enemy paint too much of theirs puts you in a tough spot. It’s pretty straightforward.

How To Get Repaint Your Heart

If you didn’t get the Persona 5 Tactica + DLC bundle at launch, you will have to purchase the DLC separately. This has to be done from the store of whichever platform you’re playing the game in (Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo, or Steam), as the in-game menu cannot take you there directly.

How to Access Repaint Your Heart

Once you’ve got the DLC downloaded, all you need to do is boot up the game and, in the main menu, select the “Downloadable Content” option. It will take you to a side menu where you can begin to play, return to the main menu, or exit the game. This additional menu changes the background to feature Akechi and Kasumi instead.

Is There Any More Content?

Once you’ve completed the story in Repaint Your Heart, Kasumi and Akechi will become available characters in New Game+ on the main story of Persona 5 Tactica. They can only be present in battle, though; they won’t really interact with the other Phantom Thieves. After you beat both the main story and Repaint Your Heart, you will unlock special challenge courses that give you a set party with designated Personas to beat the level. It’s a pinch of extra things to do in this game.
