Overwatch 2 Community Outraged as Blizzard Axes Story Mode

Single player WHEN?

Our hopes of getting a full-fledged Single Player mode for Overwatch 2 have been completely shattered. Blizzard announced that it is sadly not possible to finish the Single Player mode and provide it to the thirsty masses of players that have taken the “Overwatch 2” pill semi-violently on the premise of getting a Story mode. The community, of course, went from 0 to 100 immediately given that years of work on the mode was for nothing. What happened, Blizzard?

When is Overwatch 2 Getting Story Missions? Does the PvE Mode Have a Release Date?

Blizzard will apparently try to introduce PvE missions in a smaller capacity. So, no power progression, no hero talents, no nothing. Just something that’s watered down way below the expectations of the Overwatch community. And not just the Overwatch community. We even see reports of people refunding their Diablo 4 preorders, just to be safe until the game fully releases, and then buying it if it’s decent. We hope that there will be a redemption arc, for sure.

Blizzard gave themselves a lot of leeway to prepare and polish the release of Story Mode, but sadly, all hopes were for nothing. Unfortunately, the watered-down single-player / PvE experience that is being prepared for Season 6 might just be a temporary-enabled gimmick mode to break up the monotony of the multiplayer. When it goes live, Prima Games will provide coverage of it, because we’ll probably gather up and play it together. There will probably still be a bitter taste in our mouths from today’s announcement, but it is what it is, life moves on, and we are buried in a plethora of other games that we cover on a daily basis.
