One Piece Odyssey: How to Change Outfits

Always gotta have the pre-skip outfits available

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that RPGs based on IP from other media can be weird about things like equipment. Instead of normal RPG fare like armor, clothes, etc. there’s always some kind of gimmick. It’s like it interferes with the idea these characters have their iconic looks or something. But sometimes, like in One Piece Odyssey, there’s a consolation in different unlockable outfits. Here’s how to change said outfits in One Piece Odyssey.

If you bought the game day one, you’ve already obtained some alternative outfits. These are based on the Straw Hat Pirates’ original costumes, before the major time skip in the source material. But you can’t use them right away when you first start One Piece Odyssey. You have to play a bit until you open up the camping mechanic, a sort of rest option besides save points.

To use a campfire, you have to progress past the game’s first dungeon, or basically the end of the demo that dropped just ahead of launch. Once you get through the little cave and head back to Adio’s place, Brook will introduce the camping gimmick. Here you can eat a meal for temporary boosts, browse the encyclopedia, or head to the green tent to change outfits. From there it’s a simple matter of clicking through menus and deciding what you like.

You can check out the outfit after you change it, by which I mean rotating the model. That’s really all there is to it; there aren’t any stat changes or anything like that, as far as I can tell. Seeing the classic outfits next to the newer ones is always really weird! A lot changes in a decade or two.
