New World: How to Play Music

Before you can begin playing music, you’ll need a reliable instrument. If you’re willing to spend some money, you can head to any nearby trading post and buy one. Since the prices will range depending on your server, you may have to spend a few hundred coins. Below are the following instrument options currently available in New World:

  • Drums
  • Flute
  • Guitar
  • Mandolin
  • Upright Bass

You can also craft them if you don’t want to spend much money. Head to a workshop and pick one of the five instruments above. You can make an apprentice one at Furnishing level 0, while the rest range from level 50-150. Below is the crafting recipe for Apprentice-tier instruments:

  • Timber x10
  • Iron Ingot x3
  • Obsidian Sandpaper x4
  • Ash Stain x15

Once you’ve made and equipped your instrument, press F5 on your keyboard. From here, you can select your song by pressing R and start the performance by tapping E. Upon starting the show, a rhythm game will appear, prompting you to tap WASD and your mouth buttons to the beat. Finish the musical performance to gain experience in your Music skill.
