Each course in New Pokemon Snap gives you the opportunity to explore different locales and photograph different types of Pokemon.

New Pokemon Snap | How Many Courses Are There? 

For those wondering how many courses, or levels, there are in New Pokemon Snap, the quick answer is 24. Note that unlocking these courses follows the same general pattern in that you’ll typically need to play through the (Day) level twice to unlock the (Night) version of the level, or hit research Lv. 2. 

Below, we’ve listed all of the courses available in New Pokemon Snap in the general order in which they unlock. We’ve also included notes on the requirements needed to unlock them. 

Florio Nature Park 

  • Park (Day) – Available after completing the game’s opening tutorial
  • Park (Night) – Available after completing two runs of Park (Day)
  • Illumina Spot – Available after completing one run of Park (Night), hitting research Lv. 2

Founja Jungle 

  • Jungle (Day) – Available after photographing the first Illumina Pokemon
  • Jungle (Night) – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Jungle (Day)

Sweltering Sands 

  • Sands (Day) – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Jungle (Night)
  • Sands (Night) – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Sands (Day) 

Blushing Beach 

  • Beach (Day) – Available the same time as Sweltering Sands
  • Beach (Night) – Available after unlocking Durice Island Illumina Spot

Fireflow Volcano

  • Volcano – Available after photographing glowing Crystabloom in Sands (Night) and hitting research Lv. 2
  • Illumina Spot – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Volcano and exploring volcano ruins

Elsewhere Forest

  • Forest – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Volcano
  • Belusylva Island Illumina Spot – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Forest 

Research Camp

  • Available after photographing second Illumina Pokemon

Maricopia Reef

  • Reef (Day) – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 on Beach (Day)
  • Reef (Evening) – Available after beating the game and photographing the last Illumina Pokemon

Lental Seafloor 

  • Undersea – Available after hitting Lv. 2 in Reef (Day)
  • Maricopia Island Illumina Spot – Available after unlocking new route in Undersea by throwing Illumina Orb at Clawitzer towards the beginning of the course

Shiver Snowfields 

  • Snowfields (Day) – Available after photographing fourth Illumina Pokemon
  • Snowfields (Night) – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Snowfields (Day)

Outaway Cave

  • Cave – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Snowfields (Night) and unlocking purple Illumina Orbs
  • Illumina Spot – Available after hitting research Lv. 2 in Cave

Ruins of Remembrance 

  • Ruins – Available after photographing fifth Illumina Pokemon
  • Illumina Spot – Available after lighting up all five Crystablooms in the Ruins

 
Special courses separate from the main campaign in New Pokemon Snap include the Research Camp which isn’t shown on the main Lental Map and is instead accessible from the game’s main menu by selecting “Take Photos Here” and the (Evening) level for Maricopia Reef which unlocks after you beat the game.
