How to Breed Villagers in Minecraft

The first question a player may ask is: “What do villagers need to breed?” Luckily, breeding Villagers in Minecraft is actually a pretty simple task and only requires a few things.

  • First, you need to designate a building that you would like to make the err…party room. Any building will work, as long as it has a door.
  • Next, you’ll need to place three beds inside of the building, two for the happy couple and one for the soon to be born baby.
  • The last thing you’ll need to do is to place some food in the room. I don’t know why these foods work, but it seems either 3 loaves of bread, 12 carrots, 12 beetroots, or 12 potatoes will do the trick.

Now that you have everything set up, it’s time to bring in the Villagers. Open up the door and then lure two Villagers inside the party house. Once they’re in, close the door and walk away. Don’t worry, the Villagers won’t try to leave and will understand what’s going on. Simply go and do something else for about 20 minutes and then come back and you’ll find a little baby Villager inside the house. Further, if you wait another 20ish minutes that little Villager will become an adult. As long as you restock the party room, you can use this to breed Villagers in Minecraft as often as you’d like.

It’s worth noting that there are some ways to mass breed Villagers, but it’s a little more involved, requires a couple more materials, and is honestly kind of creepy. Essentially, it involves a bigger room and a lot more beds and food. Essentially, you give them everything they’ll need, and then they’ll breed until all of the beds are full. So, yeah, if you’re interested in mass-producing Villagers that is certainly an option to look into.

If you’re not ready for the 20-minute responsibility of raising a baby Villager, then perhaps you should start with taming a horse. Arguably, this is a more difficult task than breeding Villagers, so if you can successfully tame the horse, then you should be able to raise a little Minecraft baby!
