Manor Lords Guide: Butcher’s Workshop Explained

SAUSAGES!

Patch 3 is finally available in the main build for Manor Lords and introduces tons of new systems, fixes, balancing changes, and a few more backyard extensions including the Butcher’s Workshop. This coincides with the food spoilage system and allows players to produce sausages, which are practically immune to spoilage. Here is everything you need to know about the Butcher’s Workshop in Manor Lords.

Butcher’s Workshop in Manor Lords

To build the Butcher’s Workshop, players need to upgrade a Burgage Plot to level 2. After that, the Butcher’s Workshop can be constructed for 4 planks.

Once constructed, players can choose between the production of Meat or Sausages.

We’ll explain the benefits of picking either, and how you can maximize production by using both.

Sausages in Manor Lords

Sausage is a new type of food resource that is only produced at the Butcher’s Workshop. Two units of Sausage require 1 Meat and 1 Salt.

Thanks to the combination with salt, sausages are immune to spoilage and can be stored in granaries without worry.

Since salt is also a new resource, players can either manually obtain it through mining, or import it through the trading post.

How To Mine Salt in Manor Lords

If you have a nearby salt deposit, you can construct a Mining Pit for 1 timber on top of it. You can assign up to four families to mine salt and transport it to a storehouse.

Once the salt is transported to a storehouse, it can be used by the Butcher’s Workshop to produce Sausage.

Meat Production at the Butcher’s Workshop

Apart from Sausages, Meat along with Hides can also be produced at the Butcher’s workshop. This is done by utilizing surplus livestock available in your village or city. For every lamb or sheep carcass used by the butcher, you’ll receive 2 Meat and 1 Hide.

The Butcher’s Workshop synergizes quite well with the “Sheepbreeding” development as that continues to multiply sheep that are grazing on pastures.

Maximizing the Butcher’s Workshop Production

To get the most out of the Butcher’s Worshop, we recommend the following:

  • Upgrade two Burgage Plots to level 2, and open up two Butcher’s Workshops
  • Select the Sausage production in one, and Meat production in the other
  • Build a Livestock Trading Post and import Sheep
  • Build a Pasture for the surplus Sheep to graze
  • Now, unlock the Sheepbreeding development to slowly multiply the number of sheep you have
  • The pasture will keep supplying the Butcher’s workshop with sheep, while the meat produced can be converted into Sausages at the other Butcher’s workshop
  • Since Sausages have a zero spoilage rate when stored in the Granary, we highly recommend relying on Sausages over meat as it’s more efficient
  • If you have a Salt deposit, that’s great, but it’s not that expensive to import either

This will create an almost self-sustaining production of Meat, which can be turned into Sausage. The only major expense down the line is for Salt, but it’s worth investing in for improved storage.

Overall, the Butcher’s Shop is an excellent addition that complements the spoilage system by offering players a way to produce an efficient food resource. Fishing has also been added to Manor Lords introducing another early resource that players can catch.
