What is Madden NFL 24 Duel Entitlement?

Duel Entitlement is a feature added by EA Sports to Madden 24 that allows players who purchase the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to upgrade their version of the game to later-generation consoles at no extra cost.

With consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One getting less and less attention from some of the top games being released in the near and distant future, more players will want to migrate to newer-generation consoles. The developers have already reiterated that more energy and time will be spent on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, preempting many gamers to make the upgrade sooner rather than later.

Who is Entitled to EA’s Duel Entitlement?

Madden 24 players entitled to EA’s Duel Entitlement are all players who buy the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition of Madden NFL 24. EA has listed it as a digital copy pre-order bonus only but has clarified that the Duel Entitlement will depend on the console and physical copy purchases.

EA has made it clear that players can take advantage of Duel Entitlement and swap between systems. The one hindrance is that players must expect certain features not to be available on previous-generation consoles.

As Per EA Sports:

“Not in all instances (will it only be for digital copies). The digital version on either platform has Dual Entitlement and can be accessed on both platforms in the same console family, i.e. digital PS4/PS5 versions will provide both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game, and digital Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S versions will provide both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game.

“For physical copies of the game, purchase the PlayStation 4 version to receive Dual Entitlement with PlayStation 5. The physical PlayStation 5 version does not offer Dual Entitlement. If you purchase Madden NFL 24 on either Xbox platform, you will have access to both versions of the game through Xbox Smart Delivery.”

The only instance where Duel Entitlement will not be eligible is when a player has purchased Madden 24 on PS4 and then upgrades to an Xbox Series X/S, or when a player upgrades from an Xbox One to a PS5.

What Madden NFL 24 Content Will Carry Over With Duel Entitlement?

This could be the biggest letdown of all. The content that will carry over if you do decide to upgrade console systems is limited.

The Content That Does Not Carry Over With Duel Entitlement Is as Follows:

  • Franchise modes,
  • Face of the Franchise,
  • The Yard, and
  • Madden Ultimate Team.

The reason for all these game modes not being carried over is due to the vast differences in gameplay between the PS4/Xbox One and the PS5/Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, Madden NFL 24 on the newer consoles does not come out with Superstar: The League and Superstar: Showdown. So data carryover sounds like it’s nonexistent in most cases.

Madden NFL 24 releases in just under two months, on August 18, and will be released on all major platforms barring the Nintendo Switch. Players can already get in on the action before launch day.
