Legendary Potential is a stat found on Unique pieces of gear, which dictates the amount of affixes that are carried over from the Exalted gear piece used in crafting to make a Legendary gear piece. Legendary Potential ranges between 1-4, and directly correlates to the amount of affixes taken from the Exalted item and added to the resulting Legendary. For example, if a Unique used in crafting has a Legendary Potential of 2, it will take two affixes from the Exalted and have them on the resulting Legendary.

While this would normally imply that a Legendary Potential of 4 is a god roll, this is only partly the case. The affixes that the Legendary Potential stat uses also take into account the stat rolls on the Exalted piece of gear. As such, you ideally want to combine a Unique gear piece with a Legendary Potential of 4 with an Exalted gear piece that has high stat rolls on its affixes. This is rare to get (especially since the Unique and Exalted need to be the same gear type), but is the best if you’re looking to min-max your build.

While that’s mostly the end of it, there are a few notes you should consider before you go craft a god-tier Legendary. First and foremost, if you use a piece of gear with a class-specific prefix, the resulting Legendary will also become class-specific. The affixes that are used are also random with an equal chance for all, so you’ll ideally want an Exalted piece of gear with high stat rolls on its affixes, combined with those affixes being good for the Legendary you’re trying to craft.

How Do You Craft a Legendary?

To craft Legendary gear, you’ll want to first complete the Temporal Sanctum dungeon. Within this dungeon is an Eternity Cache (within the Divine Era) which can be used to craft that Legendary. From there, you’ll need a Unique and Exalted piece of gear of the same type. Place them in and select Seal Cache, then head to the Ruined Era part of the dungeon and find the same Eternity Cache. This will have your resulting Legendary ready to be picked up and used.
